More information about Crozet’s zoning

“The intent is to implement what the Crozet Master Plan has called for in Downtown, as well as to promote the economic and social vitality,” Cilimberg said. “We hope that it can lead to in-fill and redevelopment opportunities being realized… and also be unique to what the character of Crozet is.”

This qualifies as a “good thing” in my book.

Biking around Crozet

I’m embarking on a shift in how I get around. and I’m hoping to demonstrate the relative ease of biking around Crozet.

Riding to the farmers’s market on Saturday mornings, to Great Valu for a few groceries, to the drop-off point to pick up my weekly CSA share, over to Old Trail for meetings, to the BP to pick up the Crozet Gazette, to the Pool, Mint Springs Park, to Highlands to show a house that I’m marketing … The possibilities for riding a bike instead of driving are many.

Gas prices are affecting everyone.

Mint Springs, here we come.
Update 09 June 2008:
This is an email from the Crozet Park Pool committee:

“Dear Patrons of Crozet Park Pool:

The Crozet Park Pool Committee would like to thank you for your patience

and understanding over our pool closure yesterday, June 8, due to pool

maintenance. The pool will re-open today and business will be as usual!

The sand in the pool filters has been changed and, because of this, the

water is getting better/clearer as you read this message.

We would like to a assure you that chemically the water is and has always

been safe and closely monitored, but because of the poor condition of the

sand in our pool filters, we had to shut down the pool for a day so this

work can be completed and, ultimately, everyone can continue to swim

safely.

Again we are sorry about any inconvenience this may have caused and, we

will have an upcoming pool party open to pool pass holders on an evening

soon. Details to follow.

Thank you for your patronage, and understanding.

Crozet Park Pool Committee”

Crozet’s Downtown gets hope for the future

In today’s Daily Progress.

Albemarle County supervisors and planning commissioners mostly agreed Wednesday on a new vision for the hamlet’s downtown, spelling out a concept for new buildings, restaurants and shops. Because the county would rezone downtown ahead of time, the plan would ultimately loosen restrictions and help spur redevelopment, officials say.

Reader Question – Lodging in Crozet

“What are the closest lodging choices for people visiting family/friends in Crozet? We are relatively new here, moving from Charlottesville. I know there’s Charlottesville and Waynesboro but what about any Bed & Breakfasts that are closer? Any suggestions?”

I have had clients stay at Montfair, and they had good things to say about. Anyone else?

Sunday Fun in Old Trail

Area residents and neighbors are invited to join the families of Old Trail Village for a Summer kick-off party, Sunday, from 12-4!

Located on The Common in Old Trail Village, the party will feature food from local restaurant Three Notch’d Grill, music, balloons, moon bounces and slides, and Maggie Moo’s ice cream! Many homes in Old Trail Village will also be open for touring, each with fresh-baked cookies made by the From Scratch Baking Co., also of Albemarle.

Piece by Peace in Crozet

Thanks to Better World Betty:

Peace by Piece

Henley Middle School Rt. 250 West in Crozet

May 29th

4:30 – 7

Peace by Piece at Henley Middle School on Rt. 250 West in Crozet. This is a silent auction of student made crafts, depicting a vision of a better world. All proceeds go to save the world projects selected by the students. This year we will contribute to building a well in Haiti, and to the Central American Solar Energy Project, which teaches women to build their own solar ovens. In addition to the quilts and floorcloths made by students, many are refinishing and reinvigorating old chairs, tables and bookcases. There is also a “friends and family” table of crafts created by our school community. We’ll also be selling great grocery bags with the words “Neither, thank you.” on them. In green, of course. All are welcome, no entry fee.
