A Few Break ins in Crozet

There have been several Crozet break-ins recently …

“Since July 24, there have been 4 daytime burglaries in the Crozet area. In all of these incidents, the homes were unlocked, and the stolen items were easily visible through windows. All incidents involved the theft of electronic equipment. Two of the incidents occurred in Old Trail, one in Bargamin Loop (across from Old Trail), and one 1.4 miles away on Railroad Ave. There have been no incidents reported to have occurred since August 8. Please be mindful to lock your doors when you leave, and report any suspicious activity to the police.”

You can see reported crimes on Crimemapping.com.

Musictoday bought by Delivery Agent

The Daily Progress reports:

Fitzsimmons said his company — with 375 employees in its San Francisco headquarters and offices in Denver, New York and London — will keep Musictoday’s nearly 150 employees and its 200,000-square-foot office-and-warehouse space in Crozet, with plans to expand.

“We’re committed to the Virginia space and to the employees,” he said. “We have a great team there — tenured and loyal. We’re committed to expand the operation there.”

The company already has contracted for space for about 50 more employees in another facility in Charlottesville, he said.

Good news that they’re not moving from Crozet (which would be a tremendous loss) but I wonder why they’re adding to another facility rather than Crozet?

No Crozet Hotel

Darn.

Owner David Hilliard said he had secured full funding for the equity but could not reach terms with the bank for the planned four-story, 52-room Rutherfoord Hotel, which was to have included a bar, restaurant and rooftop event space. Crozet has no hotels.

What if … Crozet Had Sought out that Brewery?

Remember the sort-of-discussion about a brewery that had expressed interest in Crozet?

They might end up in Richmond.

Richmond is one of the final cities under consideration by California-based Stone Brewing Co. for its first East Coast operation, a highly coveted project that has drawn interest from cities across several states.

The company anticipates spending at least $20 million for the facility’s initial phase, and expects to create hundreds of jobs, according to the company.

Food for thought.

Break-ins in Crozet

I hate posting things like this. Let’s watch out for each other, Crozet.

Received Wednesday and posted on Facebook & Twitter …

I was just at the Crozet Park and spoke with an officer that had responded to a car break in that happened sometime in the parking lot there today. Back passenger window was broken out and items were taken. No other reports from The Crozet Park at this time but officer said similar occurrence today at the stores across 250 from Harris Teeter. Sounded like broken window and items in plain view taken from car ( maybe parked outside Credit Union). I tried to get a bit of info without interfering with upset victim making report. You might want to check out the details, but this might be worth an alert message to our list. Officer indicating spreading the word would be a good idea.

CCAC Meeting – 17 July 2014 – Recap

Highlights of last night’s meeting:

– Barnes Lumberyard on hold. Sort of.

– Fireworks were awesome. Thanks to all involved, particularly Tim Tolson.

– The old Train Depot is going to be something else. Soon. — Last year, we talked about what should become of the old Crozet Library; these are the poll results.

– The Crozet Library continues to be busy. Really busy.

As always, click through, scroll to the bottom and work your way up. Then get educated, involved, and ask questions.
