CCAC Meeting – 16 March |Foothills, West Glen, CCAC Elections

CCAC meeting this Wednesday. I can’t make it (soccer season has started); I’ll pay someone to live-tweet it.

There’s a lot of important stuff on the agenda, like the West Glenn development (the one near Orchard Acres & Jarmans Gap) and the Foothills rezoning (more attached product) and CCAC office nominations and elections (there are a few open seats!)

Please message or text (or call) if you are interested.

Quick Crozet Real Estate Stats – 1st 2 Months of 2016

Mark your calendar; the next Crozet Real Estate Conversation is on 23 March at 9am at the Crozet Mudhouse.

During this morning’s conversation, I ran a few stats to answer my own curiosity. I’m always

In the first two months of 2016 in Crozet

  • 8 more (29) homes have sold compared to this time last year
  • 52 homes went under contract  in 2015 and 45 this year
  • 60 homes have come on the market; 68 had done so last year.
  • Median asking price last year was 407K ; this year it’s $461,500.

Of the 45 that have gone under contract

  • 10 are townhomes
  • Median asking price is $425K; last year it was 363K
  • 19 are in Old Trail
  • 17 of the 45 are marked as new construction
  • A vast majority of those are in HOAs

These are just numbers. Without context (as is gained through conversation and analysis), they’re just numbers.

Have specific questions? Ask Jim (me) or David.

Western’s stage production on tour, radio and Web
by Brian Cohen

In show business, you have to show that you have a show, so the audience will show.

Got that?

Western Albemarle High School (WAHS) drama students are not only rehearsing for their March 24-26 run of “Grease,” but also promoting their production at other venues and in media. Due to mainly to the higher-than-average fees for show rights, the school’s drama department has acknowledged that publicity will play a vital role in filling the seats.

Interested in Serving on the CCAC? Learn More

I’ve gotten a couple questions about serving on the CCAC, since the tweets at last month’s CCAC meeting calling for volunteers to serve.  I asked David Stoner, Acting Chair of the CCAC, to answer some of those questions, and he quickly wrote this (the bolding is mine):

“The Crozet Community Advisory Committee (CCAC) is a 15-person advisory committee that provides assistance to County staff and the Board of Supervisors on civic/community issues related to implementation of the Crozet Master Plan in accordance with established county procedures.  The membership is broad-based to incorporate a variety of perspectives and ideas and to provide citizens, businesspersons and representatives of active community groups a chance to be engaged and be heard in a constructive and meaningful way.

Further information on the CCAC can be found here.

A fact sheet on the CCAC can be found here.

The CCAC members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors. There are currently nine members whose terms are expiring in March 2016, although historically several open seats are filled by reappointments.

If you are interested in becoming involved in Crozet in this way, a link to the application can be found hereApplications are due March 22, 2016.  If you would like to speak to someone for further information about possibly serving on the CCAC feel free to contact Dave Stoner, Acting CCAC Chairman at [email protected] or Emily Kilroy, Community Engagement Specialist, at [email protected]. ”

Thanks, David!

A Nice Thing about Life in Crozet – Soup & Cupcakes

A funny thing happened a little while ago – soup started showing up on the front porch of a little house on Jarmans Gap. Turns out that soup is by the fine folks at L’Etoile.

On a schedule I’ve not yet tried to figure out, they put soup in a green cooler on their porch , $10/quart, and then – on your honor – you pay and take home a delicious quart of soup.  I’ve had the soup; it’s outstanding.

And then … cupcakes appeared next door!

(I’d have gotten a thing of soup, but I was on my way back from meeting clients, and my bicycle rack had only so much room!)
