Taken all together, this film wasn’t just made in Crozet, one could say that the film was about it. Best of all, it isn’t just a film about the environment, but it also shows the cost that the suburban lifestyle has on families. Ultimately, by linking family, faith and the environment together the movie makes a compelling argument that forces us to challenge our own lifestyle.
Your thoughts?

From a new comment:
I know it’s short notice but there will be a bake sale in front of Great Valu this afternoon from 4:00 – 6:00 and the proceeds will go towards the fireworks. Come out and buy some yummy treats for the weekend and help support the fireworks in Crozet!
In ten days, Crozetians will witness the first fireworks not funded by the Fire Department. For the past few months, the Crozet community has been very busy working to raise five thousand dollars to pay for the fireworks. Folks, this needs to be a community effort. Several businesses and private individuals have stepped to the plate and given their part.
A disappointing discovery has been that very few Crozetians have donated anything at all. Personally, I got involved in the fundraising efforts because I felt it was disappointing that our community wouldn’t continue the tradition. One of the things that makes Crozet somewhat special is the community.
Now is the time to give. The Crozet Volunteer Fireman’s Summer Fest and the Fireworks are right around the corner!

If you work for a local company, ask them to give a few bucks. Maybe they’ll match your donation. How hard is it to give 10 bucks? Twenty-five?
Next year, we’ll have an online donation system to make things easier.
note: I despise writing posts admonishing the public, but this is something the entire community really should get behind and support. Note also the Crozet Gazette’s editorial in June’s issue.

Evan Almighty, starring Morgan Freeman and Steve Carrell, was filmed in Old Trail last year. It is being released nationally on June 22nd.
And the Old Trail Blog.
— ed. note: I saw Evan Almighty last week at the Charlottesville premiere and it’s mighty cool to see Crozet, the Foxchase subdivision (renamed “Prestige Glen”)Â featured in a movie, particularly this movie that is both very good and family-friendly. Also, I understand that they may be running short on tickets already. It’s good to see Old Trail contributing to the community fabric in this manner.

The neat thing about the Daily Progress’ article today?
You could have read about it in October’s Crozet Gazette (and last month’s too) as well as right here on this blog in September of last year and April of this year.

Tuesday brings the primary between Republicans Scott Sayre and Emmett Hanger.
From the Greene County Record:
“This race is one of the pivotal ones,” says Sean T. O’Brien, executive director of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia, speaking about the 24th District Senate race.
Mr. Hanger’s auto-play audio website and recent flood of mailings (a card-stock flyer a day in my mailbox) notwithstanding, he faces a significant challenger in Mr. Sayre.
Emmett Hanger has over $100k on hand.
Scott Sayre has $31k on hand.
The winner of this primary will face Crozetian Arin Sime (L) – a good Q & A is here, and David Cox (D)
More information here; that candidates spend so much money on elections is shameful.
If you don’t vote, you can’t complain.
Following up on last year’s story about Crozet being in Waynesboro’s market area, and the nearing completion of Target and Kohl’s, in addition to the Super Wal-Mart, Martin’s Grocery store, etc. …
