Help Feed Crozet Kids This Summer

A couple weeks ago I posted a link on RealCrozetVA facebook to this story.

When the final bell announces the start of summer, the 21 million American children who rely on free or reduced-cost lunches during the school year will look ahead to what Lucy Melcher, the associate advocacy director for No Kid Hungry, calls “the hungriest time of the year.”

This week brings an effort by Crozet Elementary and Brownsville Elementary PTOs (among many others) to feed kids over the summer. (bolding mine)

Summer break is an exciting time for most children filled with summer camps and vacations. However, there are some children that will spend the next two months, unfortunately, hungrier without a school lunch.

The Brownsville Elementary PTO and the Crozet Elementary PTO are working together to support Nourishing Minds distribute lunches to the students attending summer school this year. Summer school is located at Crozet Elementary June 27 through July 15, 2016 for both Crozet Elementary and Brownsville Elementary school students.

We are currently seeking team leaders to help prepare and bag lunches. Team leaders would be responsible for organizing a group of volunteers (sports teams, Boy Scouts, or friends), to prepare and bag lunches for a day. Team leaders will be provided all supplies needed and get to prepare lunches at a location they choose. Thank you in advance for your willingness to help – please visit our sign up genius to become a team leader!

We can do this, Crozet.

Something to say?
