Western is currently running a food drive in support of WAHS Senior, Nicole Muller’s national food drive initiative, Neighbors-4-Neighbors. Our local food bank aids 30,000 of our community members ( 40% of them children) each month who are in need of food assistance.
Please send in non-perishable food with your student on Monday, January 3 or Tuesday, January 4, 2011.
The food drive will end next week and it would great to show our community the giving spirit that is so much a part of our school. If every student contributes just one can of food (more would be great), the food bank will receive over 1000 cans of food from the WAHS student body. That will help tremendously at a time when donations are low, yet the need for the food assistance provided by the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank remains high.
Let’s begin the new year right with helping out those neighbors less fortunate than us.
