An engineering marvel 150 years ago turned into a stately, scenic and slightly mysterious ruin today, the Blue Ridge Tunnel is poised to benefit Central Virginia when restored, officials say.
Nelson County has applied for a $1 million grant for renovation of the tunnel, which runs through Nelson and Augusta counties near Waynesboro’s city boundary.
