The “middle” roundabout – no signs yet.
The “first” roundabout – with VDOT-mandated signs.
Wider view of the roundabout.
The third roundabout (not pictured) remains naked as well. In due time, VDOT will get their signs, I am sure. At least they can’t take away the mountain views.

Reminds me of the Five Man Electrical Band’s song Signs:
Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign
The signs are ridiculous, Are we sure VDOT mandates all of those signs. Specifically the 4 one-way signs going around the circle. Personally it is a insult to our intelligence, there is already arrows on the ground!!
Mike –
That’s what I was told. Coincidentally, when I flew out of the Charlottesville airport yesterday, I noticed quite a plethora of signs at that roundabout as well. I would have taken a picture if it hadn’t been 5:45 in the morning.
This is a vivid example of the law of unintended consequences. People at the annual homeowners meeting begged to have VDOT take over the road in order to ensure safety. Hence, we get these eye sores. Can the signs at least be made lower? Will this affect potential businesses that might be considering the town center? Is there any recourse that we have as homeowners? Hopefully something can be done to help preserve the aesthetic integrity of our community.
My understanding is that there are tentative plans to address the cornucopia of signs once VDOT takes over. Let’s hope.
